Exporting your video: formats, duration and limits

What happens on export, which limits exist and what to do with very long videos or used-up exports.

Exporting turns your project into a finished video, ready to share, download and embed. Here you'll learn how the export works and which limits exist.

How to export your video

  1. Open your project and click Export at the top right.

  2. cofenster renders your video in the cloud. You can close the tab; the export keeps running.

  3. Afterwards you'll find the finished video on the sharing page: watch, download or share it via link.

Note: If you change the project after exporting, the sharing page shows pending changes. Export again creates a new version. The shared link stays the same.

Format and quality

You get your video as an MP4 file, the standard format for web, social media and intranet. You set the aspect ratio in the project, for example 16:9 for presentations or 9:16 for social media.

How often can I export?

As often as you like: video exports are not limited at cofenster. Re-export whenever your project changes; the shared link always stays the same. For checking your edit in between, the preview in the editor is all you need, no export required.

Very long videos

Videos longer than 90 minutes can't be created directly via the Export button. In that case, message us via the Messenger: our team exports the video for you.

The export hangs or fails?

  • Give long videos some time; rendering continues server-side.

  • If elements or subtitles are missing in the export, check the preview in the editor and export once more.

  • If the problem persists, message us with the project name via the Messenger.
