cofenster runs entirely in the browser, no installation needed. For recording, editing and exporting to run smoothly, you only need a current browser and a stable internet connection.

Recommended browsers

  • Best: the current version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, on desktop and smartphone alike.

  • Other current browsers like Safari and Firefox work for most features; for recording and the editor, Chrome is the safest choice.

  • Outdated browser versions are the most common cause of freezes and loading problems.

How to check whether your browser is up to date

  1. Open your browser's settings and go to the Help or About section.

  2. The browser shows the installed version and usually updates itself when you open that page.

  3. Restart the browser after an update.

Also helpful

  • Permissions: Recording needs browser access to camera and microphone. The prompt appears when you first start a recording.

  • Network: Company networks and VPNs can block video content. The domains for your IT are listed in the cofenster domains article.

  • Memory: Video editing in the browser likes free resources. Close unneeded tabs and programs if the editor feels sluggish.

If things still stall, the step-by-step list in "The editor freezes or does not load: checklist" helps.
