Contributors do not need to install anything for cofenster. Recordings happen directly in the browser via CoCapture (capture.cofenster.com), on desktop and on the smartphone alike.

How contributors get into the project

There are three ways, all leading to CoCapture:

  • Link: Open the project link you received directly in the browser.

  • QR code: Scan the QR code with your smartphone camera, ideal at events or on printouts.

  • Access code: Enter the code at capture.cofenster.com.

As the project owner you share the link, QR code and access code via your project's Share button or directly from a request.

What contributors see in CoCapture

CoCapture shows a to-do list with all the project's recording requests, including instructions. Contributors can:

  • record themselves directly with the webcam or smartphone camera

  • upload existing videos and images from their device

  • create screen recordings (on desktop)

  • track their progress in the to-do list

Who sees what?

Everyone with the same access code accesses the same project. They see all requests with instructions and can upload recordings. Whether contributors also see each other's recordings is controlled per request via visibility; more in the article "Requesting contributions".

Frequently asked questions

The smartphone asks to be rotated but nothing happens.
Check whether the smartphone's orientation lock is on. It blocks filming in the right format.

Do contributors need a cofenster account?
No. Contributors only need the link, QR code or access code.
