In the new editor, all content sits on stacked tracks on the timeline: video, images, text and audio. That is how you place an image overlay on your video or run a text across several scenes.
How tracks work
Every element gets its own track. Whatever sits higher on the timeline sits further in front in the video. A text element above the video track appears on top of the video.
Placing an element over the video
Open the matching tool at the bottom: Image for images, Text for text, Video for a second video, Element for color shapes.
Add the element. It appears as its own track above your video.
Move and scale it directly in the preview on the right. Fit, Fill, Mirror and Crop above the timeline help you frame it.
Controlling timing, across scenes too
Drag the element to the right spot on the timeline and drag its start or end to the length you want. An element is not tied to one scene: you can run a text element across several scenes by simply dragging it longer.
Animating elements
Select an element and click Add next to Animation on the left. Choose between Enter, Exit, Loop and Effect, each with styles like Slide or Grow.
